Christmas Day Recap

Christmas day was spent with both my family and E's family, who joined our festivities, which was perfect. I woke up at my parent's house Christmas morning (I spent the night) to way too many presents! I think the tree looks really funny/small with all of those presents around it! We had our annual breakfast of fried dough and mimosas. Later in the afternoon, E and I hosted our first Christmas dinner when his parents and brother came down to our house. It turned out really well. In the late afternoon we all returned to my parent's house for the big ugly sweater/yankee swap bash. My ENTIRE family came and we had lots of laugh and lots of fun. My family is getting bigger and bigger and I couldn't believe there were 31 of us there!! I snapped some pics but they are basically all from my iphone so sorry for the bad quality!

Santa Claus came!

Christmas Weekend Recap

Yikes. I really have no idea how this week has gotten away from me. My vacation is more than half over and that makes me sad. I have been living it up though and that is why I haven't been around to blog.... which is a good reason in my opinion!

My christmas was wonderful. I started Christmas weekend on Friday night making a movie with my cousins. Back in the day we used to make videos all the time and we thought it would be hilarious if we made one as adults to show the parents. Two of my cousins, who are hilarious, did a "morning show" which was kind of like the Kathie Lee and Hoda portion of the Today Show and did a "Year in Review" for our family and all the major and not so major things that happened throughout the year. It came out SO funny... and ended up being 20 minutes long!

On Christmas Eve day I rushed around getting things done. E and I went out to breakfast and got pineapple juice mimosas, so good! I went shopping with Dad. Wrapped gifts. I went to church and then went to my aunt and uncle's Christmas Eve party. Christmas Eve was also my uncle's 50th birthday! It was a really fun time!

Apparently I took a lot of pictures of the kiddos!

Baby Paige and big girl Teresa

My favorite kindergartner T!

Cousin Emily and Paigie baby!

Love her Christmas jammies.

My little friend Tommy. He is 3 and way too hard to get a picture of.

My uncle "Capt. Christmas" and cousin Emily.

The birthday boy opening gifts from his "birthday tree."

Stay tuned tomorrow for a Christmas Day and Ugly Sweater party recap!!!

thursday's thoughts

  • Are you ready for Christmas?? I am 99% ready. I still need to buy one more gift and finish a top secret project that I am working on as a gift to my cousins!
  • Tonight I am finishing baking... lots and lots of cookies and treats. Can't wait!
  • I have 1.5 (well maybe more like 1 total now... the rest of today and then I need to work until noon tomorrow!) days until I am off for a glorious week and 1 day!
  • I got my first gift of the year from a student today. A starbucks card and some chewy egg nog cookies from Trader Joe's. Amazing. He knows the keys to my happiness. Coffee and dessert :)
  • I think I will be back to blog atleast once more before Christmas, but if I happen to miss you, I hope you all have an amazing, safe, and happy holiday with those that you love most!! :)
  • And remember, if you're feeling stressed......

Show Me Christmas: Traditions

Linking up this week with From Mrs. to Mama and Analyze This

I have to admit, I am a little bit really obsessed with tradition. I don't like change. Luckily, my family has a lot of Christmas traditions that we keep up year after year and it makes me very happy! :)

One of my favorite traditions is getting new Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve. I get to open one present on Christmas Eve and it is ALWAYS pajamas. My sister still gets them too, even though she is 36!

If you have been reading my blog for a while you might already know that my FAVORITE Christmas tradition is our crazy hat/pajama Christmas day party. This tradition somehow evolved about 5 years ago and ever since my ENTIRE family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc!) come to my parent's house for a party on Christmas wearing their pj's and a crazy Christmas hat! You can read more about 2009 and 2010 here if you wish!We have lots of food and lots of laughs. We also have a annual Yankee Swap (Do you guys know what that is or is it just a New England thing??). I love getting to spend this time with my whole entire fam!

This year we are giving up the hats and having a pajama pant/ugly sweater party. E and I bought our sweaters last week and made them even uglier than they already were by adding a little pizazz. I can't wait to show you, but I have to keep it a secret for now! Let me just tell you that they look glorious though!

Other favorite traditions are little things like having mimosas and fried dough after we open our presents on Christmas morning, playing the pickle game with my niece and nephew, sitting with my mom on the couch late on Christmas Eve looking at the tree, and going to my uncle's house for a party on Christmas Eve. I can't wait to continue some of these traditions with my growing family and when we have little bebe's in the future!

Only 5 days, I can't wait.... although I am a tiny bit stressed that I am going to get everything done!

A slight rant....Toy's R Us you stress me out!

Last week, I ordered two Barbies for my twin nieces from Toy's R Us and chose the "pick up in store" option. A few days later, it said that my order was ready for pick up. I went to Toy's R Us....waited in what turned out to be the wrong line for a loooong time, was finally told what was the right line, waited in a long line again, finally got waited on, then waited an additional 10 minutes, and then got ONE of the barbies I ordered! Apparently the second one I ordered was no longer available for in store pickup. I looked around the store and indeed they did not have it. Ummm... okayyyyy.

I went home and on Monday decided to order the missing Barbie online to be shipped to me. I also ordered two lego toys for a Toys for Tots drive and got free shipping. On Tuesday it said that the Legos had shipped out. I got one of them yesterday and another today. I checked my email Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and today and still no word on the barbie. The barbie still hasn't even left the warehouse!!!

I don't know what to do... other than the fact that I might just have to go to a store and get a third barbie so I can send out my package and then return the one to Toy's R Us once I finally get it?? I guess so! Even though the barbie I wanted was "exclusive" to Toy's R Us. Of course.

But why do things always work out like that??? It is so frustrating!

 link up with jamie.

*First, I wanted to recap a few things I have been up to lately! Last week my Dad's company gave him a retirement party because he is retiring at the end of January. They had a luncheon at a restaurant in town and gave the whole company a half day so they could attend. It was nice that they also invited my mom, sister, and I. We had a really good time.

My Dad's boss spoke really highly of him and I know he will be missed. My dad cried during the presentation they were giving about him and then couldn't read the speech he prepared. My sister did it for him.... people think he is tough but he is really a softy inside! Haha

The food was great and I loved the cake! Creative and such a man cake!

That night after the party, my mom, sister, niece, and I headed into Boston to see the Rockette's Christmas Spectacular. I loved it! I loved all the lights, singing, and dancing. They even brought out two real camels for a Nativity scene!! We all decided we all wanted to be Rockette's. If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend going to see the show!
pretty tree in the theater
the stage before the show started
loved how they made this bus look like it was really moving around
have you ever seen so many santas??
doing some of their famous kicks!
*This past weekend my whole fam, E, and I went to Patriot's Place for the night, which is basically like an outdoor shopping center all around Gillette Stadium where the Patriots play. We wanted to eat/shop/see all of the Christmas Decorations! We started out at Bass Pro Shop... which is always fun to walk around! After that we had dinner at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grille. My favorite part was drinking beer out of mason jars! So fun... and so big!!
E playing the laser shooting game at Bass Pro
My niece trying out a four wheeler!
 Us with our mason jars!
my veggie burger with "freedom" fries.. ohhh mannn

After dinner, the boys headed to the Patriot's museum and the girls did some Christmas shopping! It was a really fun night!

*I'm really excited that I only have 6 1/2 more school days until Christmas vacation!

*Are you done Christmas shopping yet?? I only have about 4 more presents to buy, so that isn't too bad!!

*I showed some of my Christmas decoration yesterday. See them here

*Have you guys tried EBATES? I did a lot of online shopping this year and I am getting so much, what feels like 'free,' money back!! :) I am a sucker for deals.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Show me Christmas: DECORATIONS!

... busy!!

I really wanted to link up I was taking these pictures at 10:30 last night.... right after I was making belts and key chains to fulfill etsy orders, and prior to that was at the mall Christmas shopping with my Dad, and before that was finishing up mailing out my Christmas cards! Oh, December!

Basically that means, don't judge my sooc/unedited pictures! I am trying to get it all done.

Here is a sampling of some of my fave Christmas decorations in our home:
First my tree..... I love how fat it is!
My table. E calls it the "museum" because I told him that for this month every time he uses a red plate he has to wash it, dry it, and put it back on the table! Haha

Don't you love these little cocktail napkins. You can turn them over depending on if you are feeling naughty or nice!

I also love Christmas cookie jars. I am not sure where I got this one.... but I think it is so cute!

For some reason I can't get over advent calendars. I still buy one for myself, and for E, (i'm not so good at sharing) every year.... even if the candy is tiny and barely tastes like chocolate. I might even still buy one for myself when I have kids.... hmmm. Also, please note the amaryllis in the middle that is NOT growing. Grrr!!

Here is a little snippet of my living room decor. I made the glittery trees on the left earlier in the month. I think they came out pretty good... but ugh, glitter is so annoying! It got everwhere. If you do glitter anything, however, I highly recommend spraying them with a clear acrylic sealer. It made a huge difference!

I hope you enjoyed my small tour! I can't wait to see all of yours! Once again December is rushing by and I still have a few projects/decorations to add.....if I get them done in time! But right now it is time to enjoy the hot cocoa that E just made me, get a blanket, lay on the couch, and watch the lights twinkle! :)

HaPpY hOLiDaYs!!!
