Holy snooooow!

I had a snow day AGAIN today. That makes 4 days in 3 weeks. I liked the first couple but now it's getting a bit ridiculous. I don't knowif it is like this in other parts of the country, but in New England you have to MAKE UP all the snow days you have in June.... which means I'd rather be working now rather than missing out on precious beach days. I DON'T want to be working until the 4th of July, also, New England schools, or atleast mine, = NO AIR CONDITIONING! :(

It has turned out to be a sunny, pretty warm day around here though, as you can see from my backyard:

snow, snow, and more snow....but i see the sun! :)

ps see that house and see those wrapped up trees.... i really hate that house and those trees!

Happy almost Friday, y'all!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving.... the new laptop I got today! It is so shiny and new. :) Basically, I LOVE getting new electronics of all kinds and it has a webcam which is something my old computer did not have! I can't wait to SKYPE!

I'm loving....or should I say I loved the book "Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. I am so surprised I liked it because I am usually NOT AT ALL a science fictiony type person. Something drew me into this book though... probably because it involves a post apocalyptic North America and not planets or aliens or stupid things like that. You should check it out... even if it is not usually your type. I read it in about a day... if that tells you how addicting it is! I can't wait to get the other two books!

I'm loving... that Boyfriend surprised me and brought home cannolis from a authentic Italian bakery for us to have for dessert tonight. I LOOOOVE cannolis!

I'm loving... more SNOW! But I might have different thoughts by tomorrow morning, depending on if school gets delayed or not!

I'm loving... how disciplined I have been about going to the gym lately! And mostly eating healthy too!! (ignore previous comment about dessert..... hahaha)

Hope everyone is having a fab day!

Good Advice!

I got this as an email forward today and usually don't pass these kind of things on via email, but I decided to share! I know everyone knows a lot of these but sometimes we forget to think about them from day to day.

Some good advice...

Health:1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.

3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants..
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy,
Enthusiasm and Empathy
5. Make time to pray.

6. Play more games

7. Read more books than you did in 2010 .
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day

9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.

16. Dream more while you are awake

17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.

19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.

20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

23. Smile and laugh more.

24. You don't have to win every argument.
Agree to disagree...

25. Call your family often.
26. Each day give something good to others.
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28. Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.

29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

32. Do the right thing!
33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
34. GOD heals everything.

35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change..

36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

37. The best is yet to come..
38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.

39. Your inner most self strives to be happy. So,
be happy!

WILW- Ski Trip!

I can't believe it is already What I'm Loving Wednesday! Where do these weeks go???

This week I'm loving... memories of the ski trip we took this past weekend!

the lodge

We went to Jay Peak Resort in Vermont to spend the three day weekend! It was so much fun!

We stayed in a condo that had three bedrooms, a sauna, a fireplace, a foosball table, and the best part... it was ski in-ski out!

Boyfriend and our friend Kate in the living room area

kitchen area

Boyfriend and I drove up after the work day on Friday and the drive there was looooong... it took us about 5 hours because it is basically on the border of Canada! Once we go there though, our friends were waiting for us with margaritas! We checked out the condo and then played "fax machine" which is kind of a much more fun version of the game "telephone."

mmm, margarita!

On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday we skied and skied and skied some more! The conditions were awesome (well despite the 15 degrees....) but it was sunny and there was lots of fresh powder! I was SO sore and tired every night after six hours of skiing but I loved every minute of it! I've decided if you have to deal with winter, you might as well embrace it!

me all bundled up, it was coooold!

Boyfriend hanging out!

Our friend Sebastian, do you like his pink coat??

Boyfriend and I!

Me after ripping down the hills all day! This is my fave pic of the trip!

I have the skiing bug and I can't wait to go again!

i hope you had a great Wednesday everyone!

1. SNOW DAY TODAY!! I may be crying and whining in June when it is 90 degrees and we have to make up this day, but I love getting atleast one snow day a year! It is so fun to watch the tv/wait for the phone to ring to hear that you don't need to come into work! And another one tomorrow, I just found out. WOW, can't remember the last time I had two snow days in a row!
2. Daily Plate. Have you seen this website? It is basically an online food/exercise tracker. What I love about it is that their database of foods is HUGE! I have had 100% success so far tracking every food I've looked for! Also, it recommends a daily calorie count and subtracts your daily exercise to show your net calories. I like numbers and visual things, so it works for me! I'm going to try it out to track my healthy eating goal.

3. That it's a three day weekend coming up and I am going at Jay Peak resort in Vermont. We are staying right on the mountain and I can't wait for three days of skiing and three nights hanging with good friends!

4. My nephew is turning 12 today! I can't believe, I watched him be born and I just can't believe it's been that long. I have 4 nieces and nephews, but he was my first child born to my sister who lives in the same town as me so I have been in close proximity to him for his entire life! Happy Birthday, Daimon!

5. Playing in the snow with my boyfriend and puppy. So fun!

2010: A Year in Review

I don't know if I can say 2010 was a good year, but I can't say it was too bad either. It, like most years, had its ups and downs.... which are all part of life. Hard times make you stronger and good times are precious.

In January, we had a stormy New Year's Eve. Had lots of snow. Hibernated inside because it was COLD!

In February, it was still cold. I made lots of crafts. We made plans to spend some of the summer in Costa Rica. We watched a lot of the Winter Olympics.

In March, my mom had hip surgery and my dad was in the hospital for 10 days with pancreatitis. At. the. same. time. It was a tough time but they are both recovered and doing great now. I am glad I was around to help them as much as I could! Also, I had my first ever "Wind Day" off of work. We went skiing and drank green beer on St. Patrick's Day.

In April, the weather started to get nicer! I began to prepare to open my etsy shop.

In May, we did lots of trip planning. We went to the beach for the first trip of the year!

In June, I completed my first 5k! My uncle's band played a reunion cruise! We had a hello summer barbecue. Boyfriend stopped working for the big brown company.

In July, my summer of vacationing began. Boyfriend I spent 1 week at Lake George for a family reunion. Then spent three amazing weeks swimming, hiking, surfing, ziplining, eating, and exploring our way through Costa Rica.

In August, we visited my bro and his family in Michigan. We enjoyed our last few weeks of summer vacation. Boyfriend began a new job.

In September, I went back to work. We went to the Life is Good music festival. We made a few last visits to the beach.

In October, we went to Salem with friends. We went on a historic Boston Bar Crawl. We hosted our annual Halloween party.

In November, my bro and niece visited for Thanksgiving. We went to the Boston ski and snowboard show and met Hannah Kearney.

In December, we found a new apartment. Packed, packed, packed. Had a very busy Christmas and then moved to our new place!

And that's that!

I'm back and goals!

It's been a RIDICULOUSLY busy few weeks, but I'm happy to report that Boyfriend and I are settled into our new apartment and back into the connected world. (Yay for cable and internet!)

Even though I'm a week or so behind most of you, I wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR and post a few resolution, top ten photo, and year in review type posts!

2011 GOALS:
Here are my 2011 goals, resolutions, or whatever else you may want to call them! I hope WILL stick to them!
1. Pay off the debt of my two credit cards and then save , save, save $$. Major priority.
2. Start to use more “green” cleaning products, and less scary, icky, chemically ones. The good old power of vinegar and baking soda will soon take over my house, not bleach and ajax and stuff like that. Maybe I’ll do a post about green cleaning ideas. Hmmmm.
3. Eat/drink nothing with high fructose corn syrup.
4. Workout at least 4 times per week. Eat mostly whole foods and overall eat well and make healthy food choices.
5. Continue to work on my Etsy shop and possibly open up a new Etsy shop/farmer’s market stand with homemade body products… i.e. sugar body scrub, bath fizzies, lip balm. Good idea or not so much?
6. Learn more about photography and take a course/learn how to use Photoshop to edit photos.
7. Blog atleast 4 times per week and comment on more blogs each day. I read lots and lots of blogs, but sometimes do too much reading and not enough commenting. I want to remedy this. Blogging is such a nice outlet and I love to read about all of you!
7. Read at least 12 books.
8. Make my 5k running time faster.
9. Try to have a successful vegetable garden this summer. I’ve tried for the past three years and have learned that not only do I not have a green thumb, it might as well be black. But you know what they say, if at first you don’t succeed….
10. Spend lots of time outside. Improve my skiing. Possibly learn how to stand up paddle board this summer. Ok… so I kind of put a lot into this last one, but basically try and learn new things…
11. Enjoy the little things. Worry less and live in the moment.
Some of my goals are a bit more specific and some a bit more broad, but they will keep me knowing what I should be focusing on so that is okay by me! For the one's that can be, I will do a monthly update!
Ready, set, gooooooooooo(al)! (haha, sorry, I couldn’t resist)
