Luck o the Irish Number Two!

Lately, I have been obsessed with all things skiing.

I think it was fueled by the Olympics but it hasn't died down. I have always known how to ski, but haven't really gone in the past, oh I dunno, 10 years or something! When Boyfriend and I decided to go on St. Patrick's Day, I was extremely excited and nervous too. What if I forgot everything I knew...

I mean, I wanted look like this girl:

aka three time Olympic Gold Medalist JUlia Man*Cuso

(On a side note, Boyfriend thinks I have a girl crush on her. I don't. It is more like an inspiration admiration? I don't know. I just find her positivity and dedication to being the best she can be really motivating and inspiring in my own life, you know? And she absolutely RIPS it up on the mountain. And she is from Tahoe, my fave place EVER.)

The day ended up being SO FUN! I went down the bunny/beginner slopes a few times to get used to it, but as soon as I got over my initial nerves, I did great. I loved it and it was a good workout too! :) I think I might have a new passion, can't wait for next year! OHH and it was 65 degrees so all I wore was tshirt and my ski pants the whole time, it felt so nice. Lucky bonus. I think I want to skip work and go skiing every st patrick's day! Oh, and I think I almost coulda kept up with Julia ; )

My fave pics:

being silly and getting ready the night before.

i started on the bunny trail to calm my nerves.

(k, finneeee, it's really me)

chairlift? I think, or not.

of course, being st patrick's day, we topped off the day with some green beer!

can't wait to go again!

Blogging and Wind?

I inadvertently disappeared from blogging for a few weeks. I am not sure why. I guess I needed a break or was too busy or blah blah blah. I apologize! And I'm back!

A few weeks ago I had a crazy, crazy day.
The northeast had a wind storm, not sure if you heard. I am assuming you might have because boyfriend's aunt called from Kentucky to tell us she saw our town on the news. We got some rain and got absolutely pummeled with wind. I like it was blowing like 70 knots or something, which is about 80 mph! It was insane... and pretty scary. There is a huge tree in my backyard that I was so scared it was going to end up on my house! I couldn't sleep all night. I kept peering out my window and the huge tree was literally shaking.

By the next morning the sun was coming out and the wind had died down. I was having a hard time waking up because I barely slept the night before so I was giving myself "5 more minutes!" While that was happening I got a phone call with an automated message from the superintendent of the school I work at saying that because of the extensive damage from the wind storm we wouldn't have school that day.

I live in New England.... I've had my share of snow days.
And even an electrical outage day or two.....

but a WIND DAY?!?! That was a first!

The day ended up being gorgeous and sunny! I took advantage of my good fortune and spent the morning getting iced coffee and porridge at my fave breakfast place in town, driving the shoreline to see the crazy surf, and then checking on my beach (which no longer looked like a beach). It was unexpected and fun.

Here are some of my fave pics:

woah, waves!

Where did my beach go???

There is not supposed to be water here : /

Upside down stop light, not gooood!

By the end of the day I decided that I love wind days!
